Discover the shimmering world of ceramic luster overglazes in this hands-on workshop led by ceramic artist Bea Willemsen. Perfect for established potters and ceramic hobbyists looking to expand their surface design techniques, this session focuses on applying luster as a finishing technique to elevate your work with metallic and iridescent effects.
Students will learn best practices for handling and applying lusters safely, as well as firing considerations for achieving brilliant, lasting results. Bring your own fully fired ceramic pieces (ideally cone 5/6). If you wish to bring low-fire work, please contact us in advance (ceramics@outskirt-studios.com). A respirator is required for participation.
Students are limited to 4 sq inches of Luster application total, if you would like to luster a larger surface area, please bring your own luster to supplement provided materials.
