Building Big with Coils
A Hand Building Intensive with Bea Willemsen - November 21, 22, & 23
Take your clay skills to the next level in this three-day ceramics handbuilding workshop focused on building large-scale forms with coils. Led by ceramic artist Bea Willemsen, this course blends technique, design, and creativity in a supportive studio environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience with coil-building methods, structural strategies for larger forms, and surface refinement techniques that make your work both sturdy and visually striking.
Course Schedule:
Day 1 (9–4, lunch 12–1): Demo, ideation, sketching, and beginning your big build.
Day 2 (9–4, lunch 12–1): Full building day, with individualized check-ins and a demo on refining forms.
Day 3 (9–12): Adding details, surface design, finishing touches, and a gallery walk to celebrate your creations.
This intensive is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their handbuilding practice—whether you want to master coil construction basics, push the scale of your pottery, or explore expressive, sculptural ceramics.
