Unlock your creativity and treat clay like the canvas it is in this immersive 3-hour surface design ceramics workshop at oUTSKIRT!

“Clay as Canvas” invites participants to explore expressive, painterly decoration techniques on bisqueware using underglazes, drawing tools, and clear glaze finishes. This one-day workshop, led by local ceramic artist Calla King-Clements, is perfect for artists, illustrators, painters, or anyone curious about bridging 2D design with clay forms.

What’s Included:

  • One bisque-fired ceramic tray or plate (upgrade or purchase additional pieces on-site)

  • Full access to Amaco Velvet underglazes, clear glaze, wax resist, and brushes

  • A guided gallery walk of Calla’s ceramic surface design work to kick off the event

  • Built-in celebration of student work at the end of the workshop!

What is oUTSKIRT?

oUTSKIRT is a new artist and maker collaborative work space. Located in Lyman, ME, just 30 minutes from Portland in 15 minutes from Biddeford in the former Cousens School, we have 10,000 sq ft. of interior space on 6.999 acres of land. A variety of working studio spaces are now available to rent on a month to month basis. Ceramics studio NOW OPEN! Offering memberships and classes.

Currently we have members that are painters, jewelers, fiber artists, ceramicists, mixed media artists, hobbiests, craftspeople, and professionals. Who are you?
